The bears were copied from two smaller bears in a similar posture. These smaller bears were made of plaster and were beginning to age harden and were just about holding up until they came into contact with a speeding lawn-mower!
The new bears were to be much larger, made of 3mm gauge steel triangles consequently making them lawn-mower proof!
The thickness of the steel also was essential to these sculptures because the steel has been left to rust naturally.
